The North Tama High School 2009 Baccalaureate Service will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 7:00 pm in the North Tama Gymnasium. This community church service for all denominations is held to honor the seniors of 2009 in an open and inviting ceremony meant to reach out to all students and families.
The 2009 Baccalaureate Service is being sponsored by many Traer churches including the St. Paul Catholic Church, United Methodist Church, United Presbyterian Church, and St. Luke Lutheran Church, and also by the Clutier Community Church. Clergy from these churches will be part of the service held to recognize the seniors.
The service will include songs, prayers and a message. The members involved in this service aim to give the Class of 2009 a religious send-off for its future. The service is one of many different ways seniors will be reminded by friends, family and community are all behind them full of support. Baccalaureate is also a way for the many different religious views of the community to come together as one and show support for the future of North Tama's newest graduates.
Seniors received an invitation to the service, inviting them as special guests. Parents, friends, and community members are welcome and encouraged to come to the service and show support and faith. To send encouragement to North Tama's seniors, the invitations were inscribed with a Bible verse from the Book of Joshua. "Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9. The Bible verse summarizes the general feeling of Baccalaureate, the need to push forward but to know love and support is everywhere around the 2009 seniors.
