Low land flooding seen in county

May 6, 2009
Traer Star-Clipper

Roxanne Warnell, Tama County Emergency Management director, said at noon last Friday no homes had been reported affected by flooding in the area. After receiving torrential rains in some parts of Tama county last week, Warnell said, "we're hoping for not another 2008" in reference to extensive flooding seen last year.

Some roadways in the Chelsea area were under water and the Chelsea Fire Department was dispatched on ambulance calls in that area to assist in case of problems with water over the road she said.

Wolf Creek, around Traer, also flooded low lying areas, Warnell said.
