Zachary Kennedy received an award from the American Legion- Traer for finishing in 2nd place in the Third District Department of Iowa American Legion flag essay competition for his essay of "What the flag means to me". He was awarded a certificate and $25, and the entire 5th grade class was treated to ice cream by the American Legion Traer Post.
