"A Taste of Traer" will be the theme for this year's June Thursdays at 7 p.m. at the Traer Library's Kupka Cultural Center. Join us for four entertaining and free programs about food.
June 11 Trudy Eden from UNI will talk on "Slow Food to Fast Food: The Way Iowans Ate". She has researched American foodways and brings us insights into how Iowans' eating habits changed from the 1870s to the 1970s.
June 18 The Dreesman Buffalo Ranch from southern Tama County will enlighten us on the advantages and delicious flavor of buffalo meat.
June 25 The program will focus on health and environmental benefits of purchasing locally grown food as Kamyar Enshayan tells us about "Buy Fresh, Buy Local", the campaign to bring fresh produce to our tables. He has coordinated the UNI Local Food Program since 1997.
