The North Tama Elementary awards were distributed for various achievements and accomplishments. The awards are as follows: Make A Splash Winners: K-6 Specials: Taylor Wauters, Xander Bradley, Sable Fehr. Lower elementary: Grace Spinler, Izach Henson. Upper elementary: Brittany Catron, Amber Sealock, Ben Mason. Presidential Academic Awards: Aubree Beenken, Paul Kaufmann, Rian Kelsey-Weida, Emma Schafer, Abi Watson, Dylan Clausen, Destany Himschoot, Brody Hulme, Anna Kvidera, Kelsey Pokorny, Zachariah Smith, Alexis Taylor, Tony Weber. Third Grade Awards, Ms. Courbat's Class: Outstanding Attendance Award Winners in 3C this year: Claire Schafer- perfect attendance, Nicholas Sierra- 2 days absent, Spelling Bee Winner for 2009 Conway Feisel. Third Quarter (150 Words): Conway Feisel -1, Cory Kennedy-2 Lucy Panfil -2 Claire Schafer -0 Olivia Schrier-1 Fourth Quarter (120 Words) Amber Fink -2 Olivia Schrier -2 Super Math Award Students who win this award passed Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division Timed Tests. Each test given had to be 100% accurate in 5 minutes. Super Math Award Winners in Ms. Courbat's class are: Ben Krafka, Claire Schafer. Students were given 100 problems in each area and had to be 100% accurate in their facts in a five minute time limit. Addition Award: Lucy Panfil, Nicholas Sierra, Timmy Jones, Kassidy Kupka, Trevor Carroll, Amber Fink, Conway Feisel, Cory Kennedy, Michael Kriennert. Subtraction Award: Nicholas Sierra, Conway Feisel, Cory Kennedy. Multiplication Award: Andrea Ubben, Lucy Panfil, Nicholas Sierra. Division Award: None in this categories. D.E.A.R Award: The D.E.A.R. stands for Drop Everything and Read. Students in third grade who independently read 100 books or more during the school year earn this award. D.E.A.R. Winners for 2009 are: Lucy Panfil-104 books, Amber Fink-114 Books, Andrea Ubben-100 Books, Claire Schafer-181 Books, Nicholas Sierra-100 Books, Accelerated Reader Awards in Third Grade Students in third grade can earn A.R. ribbons by earning points by taking Accelerated Reading Tests at school or at the Traer Public Library. Each A.R. Book has been assigned a point value. Most books have a value between .5 and 3 points. To Earn a Blue Ribbon students need to earn 40 points or above. Responsible Phone Courier Award The Elementary Teachers carry a cell phone during recesses. The Phone Courier Job is to bring the phone to the teacher on duty and to return it to Mr. Foster's office at the end of the recess. Students in the third grade had an opportunity to volunteer for this job. Ms. Courbat's class had Phone Courier duty during the first semester and Mrs. Chizek's class had Phone Courier duty during the second semester. Phone Couriers in Ms. Courbat's class this year were: Nicholas Sierra, Lucy Panfil, Claire Schafer, Tim Jones, Liberty Catron, Trevor Carroll, Andrea Ubben, Austin Hart, Conway Feisel, Kassidy Kupka, Clowey Stammer, Amber Fink, Olivia Schrier, Cory Kennedy, Ben Krafka and Layne Wauters. Grow Team Challenge; Third graders were divided into teams and they have fun reviewing their Social Studies skills. Each team answered questions and the team with the most questions correct won the challenge. Third Grade Grow Team winners for 2009 are: Claire Schafer, Clowey Stammer. Each child in third grade reached a certificate for outstanding performance in the 2009 Healthy Hike sponsored by IPTV. North Tama Third graders were dedicated to movement and reading during the month of April. North Tama Third graders placed 6th out of 99 schools. Keep reading and moving.
