Hora- Machacek Legion Auxiliary of Clutier met for their monthly meeting on Tues., June 2 at 7;30 pm at the post home. There was 11 members present. Pauline Sienknecht and Eileen Hora advanced the flags. Elaine Dostal said prayer and Secretary, Mary Svoboda called the roll and read last months minutes which were approve as read. Treasurer Margaret Babinat gave financial report. No bills were presented for payment. Helping decorate Veterans graves on Sunday before Memorial Day was Sienknecht, Evelyn Caloud, Margaret Babinat, Mary Babinat, Julia Babinat, Eileen Hora, Diane Caloud, Donna Hora and Mary Svoboda. Those who canvassed the town of Clutier distributing poppies were Marcella Caslavka, Brooke Hubbard, Pauline Seinknecht and Eileen Hora. Canisters were also placed in three businesses in Clutier. A motion was made by Julia Babinat, seconded by Pauline Seinknecht to give monetary thank you's to the two poppy makers at the IVH in Marshalltown. They were William Rattray and Roger Vanahsen. A thank you letter was read from IVH for the 29 pounds of carpet rag balls and clothing they received from our unit in February and also 10 pounds of carpet rags received in March. President Veronica Read a message regarding operation comfort warrior which assist in providing nonessential comfort items for our men and women recovering from the war injuries in hospitals and VA facilities across the country. Marcella Caslavka made a motion to send a monetary donation, seconded by Vera Sevcik. The motion carried. Shower of gifts list was read to the group which is new items for the residents at IVH in Marshalltown. Members attending the July meeting please bring an item that was read off the list. The evening will begin with a potluck at 6:30 pm followed by flag disposal ceremony and then meeting. Marcella Caslavka won the door prize. Happy Birthday was sung to Elaine Dostal and get well cards were signed by the group and sent to Suzanne Svoboda and Mary Cecak. Julia Babinat read the slate of the new 2009/2010 officers which were elected for the upcoming year. The units next meeting will be July 7 at the post home. The evening will begin with a lunch being served by President Veronica Paulicek at 6:30 pm and the meeting will be commence at 7:30 pm. Installation of new 2009/2010 officers will conducted. Eileen Hora read an article to the group, "Great truths about getting old." It was enjoyed by all. Everyone received a small flag since June 14 was Flag Day. There was only one person who dressed in red, white and blue and that was Pauline Seinknecht. Hostess was Elaine Dostal and she provided sandwiches and banana cake to the group.
