There were 20 registered for the fifth Konicek & Mochal reunion held at the Elberon United Methodist Church Basement June 28. It was pleasant day and enjoyed the potluck with Rohlickies. Some had dinner at the Elberon Restaurant and four join us later.
The tables were decorations with white tablecloths with a container of red and white flowers with the Czech and American Flags, with plenty of food. The decorations were given for doors prizes, those winning one were Brooklyn Hubbard, Rachel (Parizek) Dray, Randall Parizek, Lawrence Mochal, Arlene (Konicek) Schmidt, and Elsie Erlacher. Some brought items of their relation to show, Sandy Thalmann had an old pictures of old reunions that she wanted help to name those who were pictured.
Money was collected to defray expenses.Vernon and Wilma Parizek hosted the event with others helping.
The Mochal arrived in America November 29, 1860 and Konicek arrived in America June 26, 1871 and settled around Vining, Iowa.
Sandy (Mochal)Thalmann has been researching articles written by Marie K. (Konicek) Mochal. The first reunion was held June 30, 1935 to celebrate the seventy-fifth anniversary of the arrival in America of the Mochal family. There were 133 attending. Their reunion was discontinued later and started up again in 2005

The fourth Sunday, June 27, 2010, we will meet at the Elberon United Methodist Church where it is cool. A notice will be placed in the local newspapers. Those furthest away will be notified by cards or e-mail.
