Traer Star-Clipper

Dear Editor:

I recently moved back to Traer after having lived elsewhere for almost 30 years. I am impressed by the looks of the town. Several houses have been renovated and most yards are very well maintained.

I am also impressed that there are several 4 way stops in town. However, the 4 way stop by my childhood home is often not observed. While sitting outside I see several cars that don't even slow down, let alone come to a full stop at the corner of Linn and Elm Streets.

Recently within a 15 minute span I saw a City of Traer pickup run both stop signs on Linn Street. Once going South, then a few minutes later run it going North. This does not look good for the city of Traer.

Stop signs were placed there to slow the traffic. With the swimming pool just a couple blocks south of this intersection there are numerous people, adults and children, walking to and from the pool. What is going to happen when a child gets hit by a car? Especially if it is a city vehicle that hits them?

Please obey the stop signs and keep our residents, young and old, safe.

Carol Zimple

700 Elm Street
