North Tama and Traer's honored alumni will gather for a reunion on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 7 and 8 during the Winding Stairs Festival. Seven honored classes have been especially invited to attend the festivities: Traer's classes of 1949 (60 years); 1954 (55 years); and 1959 (50 years); Traer-Clutier Class of 1964 (45 years); and the North Tama classes of 1969 (40 years); 1984 (25 years), and 1999 (10 years).
A committee representing the classes worked on getting the letters mailed to alumni and taking reservations: Barbara Novotny for 1949; Ramona (Vanicek) Snow for 1954, Ron Mason for 1959, Larry and Sue (Pusteoska) Nachazel for 1969, Brian and JoAnn Sienknecht for 1984, and Meredith (Butts) Parizek for 1999. Letters also went out to members of the Class of 1964, although no chairman was found for that class.
Those who have graduated over 50 years ago from Traer are also invited to attend the Saturday evening dinner. Reservations ($10) must be made immediately with Cecilia Harmsen at Farmers Savings Bank & Trust in Traer.
Those attending this alumni weekend are reminded that festivities begin with an informal social gathering on Friday evening beginning at 7 p.m., to be held at the Traer Memorial Building. The 25-year class will furnish the snacks for that social evening.
Saturday morning the Winding Stairs Festival events include a free breakfast held at the Memorial Building, compliments of the Traer United Presbyterian Church, where all alumni are welcome. Tours can be taken of the school Saturday afternoon. The Festival Grand Parade is at 5 p.m., and alumni will gather after that at the Memorial Building, with group photos to be taken beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Following is a listing of the honored classes, along with their addresses (when known). An asterisk preceding the name of the alumnus indicates the person has made a reservation to attend the Saturday dinner.
