The North Tama Redhawks ran their first cross country meet, Saturday, September 12 at the Benton Bobcat Invitational in Atkins.
The first race to take place was the middle school girls. Running a distance of 1.25 miles, Abi Watson finished in first place with a time of 8:04 beating out 63 other girls for the win.
The varsity girls were up next. The team finished in 11th place with 301 points. The first Redhawk across the finish line was Mallory Espenscheid with a time of 18:57 for 46th place. Emily Pargeon came in next with a time of 19:07 in 48th place. Kailey Kladivo finished in 68th place in a time of 20:32. First time cross country runner, Nikki Peters finished in a time of 20:45 for 69th place. BrandiAnne Daub came in at 21:11 in 71st place. Sierra Kubik was next in for the Redhawks in a time of 21:17 for 71st place. Brittany Young placed 74th in a time of 23:18.

The varsity boys did not have enough runners to enter a team but individually entered three runners. David Robinson medaled with a 9th place finish in a time of 17:53. Jacob Espenscheid was the next Redhawk in with a time of 23:19 for a 77th place finish. Oleksiy Panchuk came in with a time of 23:22 for 78th place.
On the junior varsity side Alaina Jantzen and Nicole Schlichting competed for the Redhawks. Jantzen came in with a time of 23:29, in 48th place and Schlichting finished in 27:12 for 52nd place.
Cody Finical ran for the Redhawks in the boys junior varsity race. He finished in 62nd place in a time of 29:27.
The Redhawks have two meets this week. Monday they will compete at Otter Creek at the South Tama Invitational and Saturday, September 19 at BCLUW at 9:30 a.m.
