John and Garnet Mehlert of Dysart celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family gathering held in July. John Mehlert and Garnet Jensen were married on September 26, 1959, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Waterloo. John is a farmer, and Garnet is a homemaker. They have three children: Michelle (Russ) Hunt of Aurora, Ill., Laura (Matt) Kenney of Maple Grove, Minn., and Darrin Mehlert of Chicago, Ill. They also have nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
