Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary held a sewing day on Tuesday, November 3 at the post home in Clutier. The following ladies sewed carpet rags for IVH in Marshalltown: Evelyn Caloud, Helen Valentine, Pauline Sienknecht, Helen Sevcik, Mary Seda, Lillian Dostal, Maxine Kopriva, Eileen Hora, Vera Sevcik, Linda Dvorak and Veronica Pavlicek. A noon potluck was enjoyed by all and monthly meeting was held in the afternoon. It was reported that when we sewed in October we had delivered 22 pounds of carpet balls to IVH.
President Veronica conducted the meeting. Secretary Mary called the roll and read last months minutes which were approved as read. Treasurer was absent but checkbook was present so financial status was given. Veronica reported on the bake sale the unit had on October 25 and was deemed a great success. Our members came through with delicious baked goods and made enough money to send the registration fee in for girls state in June. Workers helping at the bake sale were Mary Seda, Mary Svoboda, Marcella Caslavka, Margaret Babinat and Veronica Pavlicek. Two bills were presented for payment. It was reported that we have two candidates for girls state so Linda Dvorak made a motion to send in the registration fee for girls state and was seconded by Evelyn Caloud and motion carried.
Evelyn Caloud attended the past president's party on October 27 in Traer. Evelyn Caloud reported on the 3rd District conference in Shellsburg on October 31 she attended.
Thanks you was read from the Milred Bohnstengel family for the prayers and thoughts her family received at the time of her death and thank you to the members that helped with the funeral lunch.
