Traer Star-Clipper

Dear Editor:

As a parent of a bowler from the FORMER bowling team at North Tama Schools, I am disappointed that the school is not going to have a bowling team this year due to a lack of a coach. A eight month search has not produced anyone who wants to coach a very young , but productive bowling team. These bowlers have looked forward to having a bowling team all year long, just to be told that there's no one out there that has a coaching endorsement at the high school level. This team needs to have a coach so they can start the season.

Scott, at the bowling alley in Traer, has given freely the bowling alley so the kids can come and practice there for free and then opens his doors so the team can bowl against other area teams. He gives of his time and money to the high school, why can't there be someone who would coach and give of their time? The school does pay a stipend/salary for them to coach the bowling team. If Scott is willing to open his doors for free without any compensation from the city or county to help the team, why can't we find a coach?

Is there someone out there who wants to work with bowlers and help them promote their skills?
