H. Fred Bovey, 83 of Traer Died Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Sunrise Hill Care Center after an extended illness. Services were held Saturday, April 24 at Ripley United Church of Christ in Traer with burial at Buckingham Cemetery. Military graveside rites by the Traer American Legion.
H. "Fred" Bovey was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 29, 1926 to Wesley E. and Agnes (Wilson) Bovey. At an early age he moved with his family to the Traer area where he attended school and graduated from high school. He entered the U.S. Navy and served as a Seabee during WWII and served in the Pacific Theatre. After his discharged from the Navy he returned to Traer and worked as a truck driver for Funks and an electrician for Traer Municipal Utilities. Fred then went to work at Rath Packing in Waterloo until his retirement. For the past five years he resided at Sunrise Hill Care and Rehab Center where his death came on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the age of 83. He was a member of the Ripley United Church of Christ, Traer Masonic Lodge and the Traer American Legion. Fred is preceded in death by his parents; one brother Allen; one sister Agnes; one son Randy; one daughter Kellee Weber and one granddaughter Randee Leigh. He is survived by two sons, Lance (Lorie) Bovey of Oxnard, Calif., Shawn (Maggie) Bovey of Mountain Top, Pa.; one daughter Rebecca (Stanley) Pawlaski of Hunlock Creek, Pa.; ten grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
