The North Tama boys and girls Junior high track team traveled to Dike for the Iowa Star Conference meet on May 7. Nine teams crowded the track for what would be a great night for the Redhawks.

In field events Eighth grader, Vaughn Jensen threw the shot put 34'7" to give him first place and seventh grader Kelon Hansen brought in fourth with a 32' 9 3/4" throw. In the high jump Omar Martinez placed fourth, jumping 4'8". In running events for the boys in the 4x800 (3200 relay) were Ethan Erhardt, Tristan Johanningmeier, Paul Kaufman and Caleb Kriz. The boys finished third with a time of 11:57.35. Also taking third place was the distance medley team consisting of Zachariah Smith, Jon Ameling, Vaughn Jensen and Brody Hulme.

North Tama continues to place as Smith, Colin Sienknecht, P. Kaufman and Jensen finish fourth in the 4x200(800 relay) with a time of 2:04.98. Noah Franklin and Dylan Claussen take fourth in the 1600 meter and Erhardt takes third in the 7 flight hurdles. In fifth for the 200 hurdles was Sienknecht and Hulme in second in the 800 meter. The 4x100(400 relay) team of Ameling, Jensen, Franklin and Hansen finish fourth.

The North Tama junior high girls bring in as a team first place with a team total of 164 with Janesville following in second with 143. To start the girls off in the field events was Sam Zobel finishing third in the shot put. In running events Audrey Beenken, Alex Morrison, Rachel Kopriva and Destiny Himshoot made up the 3200 meter relay team that finished third with a total time of 12.25. Abi Watson receives first in the 1500 meter run. 200 meter dash winners Josie Youel and Anna Kvidera took first and second place with Youel taking first and Kvidera with second. Ann Robinson took second in the 7 flight hurdles, tying the North Tama Record held by Selina Hayek in 2003 with the time of 13.10. Robinson also got second in the 200 meter hurdles and Tiffany Singhek with sixth place in that event. First place went to North Tama again in the sprint medley relay with Stuart, Howard, Taylor and Jacobs forming the team.
