Ardella A. Schlotfelt, 78, of Cedar Rapids died Thursday, June 10, 2010 in her home. Memorial Services were held Monday, June 14, 2010 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Daniel Clark-Bridges officiating. Inurnment was in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Survivors include her husband, James W. Schlotfelt of Cedar Rapids; Children, James R. (Skip) (Debbi) Schlotfelt, Rodney (Teresa J.) Schlotfelt, Joni (Rick) Kern and Lon (Teresa Ann) Schlotfelt, all of Cedar Rapids.
Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Anne (Jason) Sopousek, Daniel Kern, Nathan Schlotfelt, Rachel Schlotfelt and Leah Schlotfelt; 2 great grandchildren, Benjamin & Patrick Sopousek. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Ardella A. Knoop was born May 5, 1932 in Clutier, the daughter of Harry and Inez (Hach) Knoop. Ardella played for the Clutier Charging Czech's basketball team from 1945-1949. She was a member of the All-State Women's Team in 1947 and 1948. Ardella played basketball at A.I.C. College in Davenport where she traveled throughout the United States and abroad. She was inducted into the Iowa Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 1979 and received the Vicki award. On August 11, 1951 she married James W. Schlotfelt in Dysart.
