Cizek hits walk off


Tyler Cizek hit a double in the bottom of the seventh to drive in Dalton Hulme to defeat Tripoli 4 to 3. The game was played at J. L. Lister Field June 14. The victory improved the Redhawks record to 10-3 and 6-1 in the Iowa Star conference. North Tama had eight base hits in the ballgame and committed two errors. Tripoli had seven hits and committed five errors. Cizek had a single and a double, scored a run and had a RBI. Jon Koob smacked two singles to score a run and knock in another. Cade Isenhower hit two singles and scored a run. Jeremy Wrage went one for three at the dish to drive in two runs. Brendon Boerm hit a single and scored twice. Boerm pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing three runs on seven hits, three walks and whiffed ten. Cizek struck out the last batter of the game to get the vulture win. The JV team beat Tripoli 9-2. The North Tama JV squad improves their record to 7-1 and extends their winning streak to six games in a row.

North Tama 8 Colo Nesco 2

The Redhawk baseball team traveled to Zearing to take on the Royals of Colo-Nesco. June 18. North Tama won the ball game by the score of 8 to 2. The Redhawks remain undefeated on the road this season with a record of 6-0. The bats remained cool for the second game in a row, but North Tama did manage eight hits in the contest. Jeremy Wrage took Colo-Nesco's ace pitcher Adam Good deep in the sixth inning, blasting his second homerun of the season. Wrage was two for two with two runs batted in extending his hitting streak to five games. The eight runs North Tama scored against pitcher Good were all earned. Brendon Boerm went three for four at the platter driving in two runs. Marshall Karr drove a single up the middle to score Colby Harms and Jacob Wrage. Brendon Boerm caught a hard sinking line drive and threw to Marshall Karr at second base for a double play to stop a Royals rally in the fifth inning. North Tama committed a season high of four errors but pitcher Tyler Cizek helped pitch the Redhawks out of trouble. Cizek pitched a seven inning complete game to improve his pitching record to 5-1. Cizek dominated Colo-Nesco hitters striking out a career high 14 batters, allowing an earned run, six hits and three base on balls. The win puts the Big Red Machine's winning streak to four in a row and nine wins out of the last ten games. The Redhawks have sole possession of second place in the Iowa Star conference behind second ranked Don Bosco. NT will play Don Bosco June 21 and must win to keep their conference title hopes alive. Don Bosco Dons survived a scare from the Dunkerton Red Raiders squeaking out a 4-2 victory on June 14. The June 18 GMG game was rained out and has been rescheduled for June 29 in Traer. The JV team extended their winning streak to eight games and improved their record to 9- 1. The squad swept a double header at La Porte City vs. Union 6-0 and 10-4
