Sunday, June 6, the members of the United Presbyterian Church in Traer welcomed a new Pastor after 18 years serving God with now retired, Pastor Rick Vesely.
Pastor Brice Hoyt entered the United Presbyterian church and was welcomed with open arms. Pastor Hoyt and his wife, Kris, who is a nurse have two children; Bradley who is starting college at the University of Iowa in the REACH (reaching educational and career hopes) program and Ashley who is also starting college at the American Institute of Business in Des Moines. Pastor Hoyt and his family come from Sully where for the last 22 years he has been Pastor at the First Reformed Church.
Though still living in Sully at the present time, the Hoyts do plan on moving soon, to make Traer their home. Pastor Hoyt stated that the first thing he noticed different from where he has been is that it is more contemporary, the people are very community focused and that good things happen here. "Being around him you see how well he interacts with people. He has a great voice, a voice that draws people to him." stated church member Mike Pargeon.
Pastor Hoyt plans on staying as long as he can at the United Presbyterian Church and hopes to get more involved in the community soon. "The hardest thing I think I will have to encounter here is trying to fill Rick's caring legacy, he has helped so many in the church community."
