Joyce E. Wiese, 76, of 1225 W. Third St., Dubuque, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at home, following a brief battle with cancer. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Dubuque. Burial was in Linwood Cemetery also in Dubuque. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.
Joyce was born January 3, 1934 in Central City, Neb., daughter of Albert and Florence (Becker) Barnholdt. She graduated from Van Horne High School in 1952. On August 18, 1952 she married Daryl Wiese in Belle Plaine. Throughout her life she was an active member in her church, teaching Sunday School, writing Christmas programs and singing in the Choir. Most recently she was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where she was active in several prayer groups/bible studies. She also volunteered at the Dubuque Lutheran School. She was a devoted wife, mother, awesome grandmother and enjoyed many special moments with her great grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Daryl Wiese of Dubuque; three children, Kay Lynn (Mark) Munson of Dubuque, Jerry (Wendy) Wiese of Stillwater, Minn., and Rod (Heidi Rieboldt) Wiese of Dubuque; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by four brothers, Bill Barnholdt of Beaver Falls, Pa., Jerry (Mary Jo) Barnholdt of Burlington, Victor (Jan) Barnholdt of Swisher and David (Kathy) Barnholdt of Cedar Rapids; and eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister in law, Barbara Barnholdt. A Joyce Wiese Memorial Fund has been established. On-line condolences may be submitted at www.egelhofsiegertcasper.com.
