DB 3 NT 0

Don Bosco beat the Redhawks in a pitching duel 3-0 in Gilbertville June 21. Tyler Cizek held the second ranked Dons to just four hits, but allowed a solo shot in the third inning to Cole Welter. The run was the only earned run in the contest. Cizek struck out nine batters and walked three. Don Bosco pitcher Welter scatted five North Tama hits to blank the Redhawks for the first time this season. Don Bosco improves to 17-1 on the season with their only loss to number one ranked Mason City Newman. DH Colby Harms was two for three at the plate. Jon Koob, Jacob Wrage and Pete Kopriva each had a hit. The loss drops the Redhawks to 11-4 overall and 6-2 in conference play. North Tama is currently in second place in the Iowa Star by one game over Dunkerton. The JV team loss their first Iowa Star game to Don Bosco 5-4.

NT Defeats NICL Leader GR

The Redhawk baseball team defeated two time defending NICL West champs and current leader Gladbrook-Reinbeck 12-2 in five innings. The game was played at J. L. Lister Field June 22. North Tama smashed eight hits in the contest and took advantage of ten walks and six Rebels errors. Tyler Cizek led the offense with a double and two singles to drive in three runs. Jeremy Wrage smashed a double to the fence to collect an RBI. Marshall Karr hit a single knocking in two runs. Pete Kopriva had a RBI on a single. Pitcher Brendon Boerm earned the win improving his record to 4-1. Boerm pitched all five innings and did not allow an earned run. Boerm struck out seven, walked one and allowed two hits. The win improves the Redhawks to 12-4 and remains undefeated against NICL West opponents. The JV team beat GR by the score of 12-9.

NT 11 CAL 1

The North Tama baseball team took care of CAL in six innings of work winning 11-1. The game was played at J. L. Lister field June 23. Tyler Cizeks' bat remained hot going three for three at the plate driving in two runs and scoring two. Brendon Boerm had two singles, two RBI's, three stolen bases and scored twice. Jeremy Wrage scored twice and hit a two run single. Justin Jacob hit a walk off single to end the game by the ten run rule. Pete Kopriva added a single to the attack. Pitcher Jon Koob pitched four innings to get the win improving his record to 3-1. Koob allowed one run on three hits, a walk and struck out ten batters. Colby Harms pitched two innings giving up two hits and struck out four batters. The win improves the Redhawks record to 13-4.

NT 14 NEH 0

The Redhawk ball club shut out Northeast Hamilton 14-0 at Blairsburg June 25. The Big Red Machine pounded out 16 hits in the contest. Colby Harms led the attack with four singles to drive in five runs. Tyler Cizek hit a single and a double to plate four Redhawks, while scoring two runs. Jeremy Wrage had two doubles, two RBI's, two stolen bases and scored twice. Jon Koob had two doubles, two RBI's, two stolen bases and scored three times. Brendon Boerm smacked a single and a double and scored two runs. Sean Dengler hit two singles and scored twice. Cizek pitched six innings to earn the win on the hill improving his record to 6-2. Cizek allowed just one hit, five walks and struck out nine. Harms pitched the seventh inning and gave up two hits. The Redhawks improve their record to 14-4 and 8-2 in the Iowa Star conference. The JV team defeated NEH 9-5.

Redhawks Take second at Tourney

The Redhawk baseball team took second at the NU High tournament June 26. North Tama defeated Janesville in a non conference match up 12-0 in first round action. Jon Koob was the winning pitcher picking up his first shut out of the season. Koob pitched five innings allowing just one hit and a base on balls, while fanning six Wildcats. Jacob Wrage led the offense slapping three singles, swiping three bases and scoring three runs. Jeremy Wrage hit a single and a triple to plate four Redhawks. Jon Koob scored two runs and smacked a single and a double to drive in two runs. Brendon Boerm hit a single and had three RBI's in the game.

The North Tama squad was defeated by eighth ranked NU High by the score of 15-3 in the championship game. NU High blasted two grand slams to help end the game in the sixth inning. Brendon Boerm was three for four at the dish, with a double and two RBI's. Sean Dengler, Jacob Wrage, Tyler Cizek and Jeremy Wrage each added a single. Boern took the loss on the mound pitching five innings. Colby Harms and Justin Jacobs each pitched in relief.

NT 9 Janesville 5

The Redhawks defeated Janesville for the third time this season; the score was 9-5. The game was played

in Traer June 28. North Tama pounded out eight hits in the contest. Tyler Cizek was two for two driving in a run and scoring one. Brendon Boerm scored a run and hit a double to collect an RBI. Pete Kopriva and Jon Koob each hit a single to knock in a run. Marshall Karr added a double to the attack. Tyler Cizek pitched 5 1/3 innings to earn the win. Cizek allowed two earned runs, seven hits, four walks and struck out seven batters. Colby Harms pitched 1 2/3 innings to earn the save. Harms did not allow a batter to reach base and struck out three. The JV team beat Janesville 10-4.

NT 5 GMG 3

The Redhawks earned their tenth conference win defeating GMG by the score of 5-3. The game was played at J. L. Lister Field June 29. GMG's pitcher Austin Aldrich held the Hawks to five runs on just six hits, while blasting a homerun, but it was not enough to beat the Redhawks. Jon Koob won his sixth game on the hill to improve his record to 6-1. Koob allowed one earned run on five hits, three walks and ten strike outs. Colby Harms nailed down his second save on consecutive nights. Harms threw two innings allowing just one hit and whiffed three Wolverines. Brendon Boerm scored two runs and hit an RBI double in the seventh inning. Harms scored a run and hit two singles. Marshall Karr hit a double and scored a run. Jacob Wrage and Jon Koob each added a single. The JV club defeated GMG 4-1.

Wrage Homers, NT 12 Dunkerton 4

The Redhawk nine beat Dunkerton on the road by the score of 12-4 on June 30. The Redhawks were down 4-1 going into the top of the fourth inning when the bats came alive. North Tama had 12 hits in the game. Jeremy Wrage led the tenth ranked Redhawks with a single, double and a two run homer to drive in four runs. Wrage leads the team with three homers. Jon Koob, Colby Harms, and Tyler Cizek each hit a single and a double to drive in a run. Marshall Karr, Pete Kopriva and Jacob Wrage added a single apiece. Brendon Boerm pitched a complete game winning his fifth game. Boerm gave up two earned runs on six hits, three walks and struck out a career high 14 batters. Jacob Wrage made an outstanding catch down the right field line in the first inning to kill a Dunkerton rally. The Redhawks improve to 11-2 in the Iowa Star conference and 18-5 overall. The JV squad defeated Dunkerton 10-1.

NT 11 Grundy Center 5

The North Tama baseball team traveled to Grundy Center on July 1 to defeat the Spartans 11-5. The Redhawks bats smacked a total of 14 hits. Tyler Cizek went three for five at the plate with four RBI's, including a three run double. Brendon Boerm hit two singles and a double to score runs. Jon Koob had two base hits collecting two RBI's. Pete Kopriva slapped two singles and scored a run. Marshall Karr hit a double, scored twice and knocked in a run. Tyler Cizek took the win on the mound, his eighth win of the season. Cizek pitched 4 2/3 innings in relief, giving up two runs on three hits and nine strike outs. Justin Jacobs started the game pitching allowing one earned run, on one hit, four walks and hit two batsmen. The win was Coach Dan Kopriva's 200th career win as a head coach. The JV team took care of Grundy Center 9-5.

Redhawks Flash the Leather

The North Tama Baseball team defeated Clarksville in the first Game of a double header 4-2. The games were played on July 2 at J. L. Lister Field. The Redhawks defense was outstanding and got the Redhawks out of trouble time after time. The Redhawks did not commit an error in the game. Short stop Tyler Cizek made three big league plays including a diving play which he made a long throw from the seat of his pants that took a hop to Jeremy Wrage, who finished the

play with an incredible scoop. Wrage capped off three tough plays with scoops at first base. Second baseman Marshall Karr made a spectacular stab in shallow right field and then gunned down the runner at first base. Brendon Boerm made an excellent sliding catch in center field on a sinking line drive. North Tama had just four hits in the contest but manufactured four runs with the help of 12 stolen bases. Colby Harms drove in two runs on two ground outs. Tyler Cizek had a hit, scored a run drove in another on a sacrifice fly. Dylan Youel had a bunt single and stole two bases. Jon Koob had an RBI single. Pete Kopriva had the only other hit of the game. Colby Harms pitched a complete game for the victory. Harms pitching record is now 2-0 with two saves. Harms gave up two runs on six hits, one walk and struck out six.

The Redhawks won the second game of the twin bill 12-3. North Tama cranked out 16 hits in the game. Brendon Boerm went three for three at the plate with two runs, three RBI's and three stolen bases. Jacob Wrage was three for four with a stolen base, two runs and three RBI's. Sean Dengler stole a base, scored a run and hit two singles to drive in two runs. Jeremy Wrage smacked a single and walked twice to score three runs. Brent Billerbeck recorded his first varsity hit with a pinch hit single in the sixth inning. Marshall Karr, Brain Seda and Pete Kopriva added a single apiece. Jon Koob went the distance for the Redhawks. Koob allowed three earned runs on five hits, two walks and struck out four batters.

The Redhawks clinch second place in the Iowa Star conference to improve their record to 21-5 and 13-2 in the ISC. The five losses have been to either 2A schools or 1A teams ranked higher than the Redhawks.
