Joseph (Joe) W. Seda, 82 of Evansdale, died at Covenant Medical Center on Monday, August 9, 2010, with his family by his side.
A Vigil Service was held on Thursday, Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. with Deacon Ed Weber officiating. A memorial service was held at Locke Funeral Home on Friday, August 13 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Jose Luis Comparan officiating.
Joe was born August 31, 1927, in Necedah, Wisc., the son of Joe and Rose Bouska Seda. He lived in Clutier and Traer during his childhood but moved to Evansdale and had been a resident there for the last 56 years.
Joe married Phylis Huntley on November 28, 1953, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waterloo.
Joe worked as an electrician for Fereday Heating and Cooling and late Don Lentz Heating and Cooling, retiring in 1994 after an accident at work caused several injuries.
Joe is survived by his wife Phylis; son Steve (Taresa) Seda; son Stanley Seda; son Steward (Raja) Seda; daughter Dorthea (Jerry) Plates; daughter Diane (Joe) Kohls; daughter Debra (Troy) Williams; 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-granddaughter and another great great-granddaughter soon to join the family. His is also survived by his brother Fred Seda of Gladbrook; sister Emma Kubik of Traer; sister Helen Finn of Waterloo; sister Dorothy (Lloyd) Marxen of Davenport; and bother Jim (Mary) Seda of St. Charles, Ill.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, two brothers Ed and Frank, and two sisters Bessie Husak and Rosie Seda.
