The tenth rated North Tama baseball team ended their season with a 25-7 overall record and took second place in the Iowa Star conference with a 14-2 record. The Redhawks finished second two years in a row to Don Bosco, the state qualifier in our region. North Tama reached the team goal of 25 wins. It was the most wins in a season since the 27-8 state qualifier team in 2003.
The 2010 Redhawk baseball team earned many post season honors. Eight players earned Iowa Star conference honors. First team Iowa Star conference players are: OF Brendon Boerm, P Tyler Cizek and 3B Jon Koob. The second teamers are: 1B Jeremy Wrage, C Cade Isenhower, P Colby Harms and OF Jacob Wrage. Sean Dengler earned honorable mention. Six Redhawks earned central district awards. Central district first team players are: OF Brendon Boerm, Utility player Tyler Cizek, C Cade Isenhower and 3B Jon Koob. The Wrage brothers 1B Jeremy and OF Jacob earned second team.
OF Brendon Boerm was named first team all-state Iowa Newspaper Association and First Team all-state Iowa Baseball Coaches Association. Boerm currently ranks seventh in career batting average (.422) at North Tama. Utility player Tyler Cizek was selected third team all-state Iowa Newspaper Association and second team all-state Iowa Coaches Association. Cizek won nine games as a pitcher this season and is currently tenth in career batting average (.402) at North Tama.
Tyler Cizek won the MVP and gold glove awards. Jeremy Wrage won the Don Wolfgram scholarship and sportsmanship award. Colby Harms was the Redhawks most improved player.
