The “New Face” of North Tama

Brand new bells and whistles at North Tama School. As everyone knows, a big change has taken place to the front of the school over the last fifteen months. Plans were made up two years ago to build a new face to the high school. The ground breaking took place in May of 2009. This big project was originally supposed to be completed by July 28, 2010.

The reason the school decided to add on was because they wanted to have a place that the junior high could call their own. Because of the added wing the hallways are less crowded by the six different grade levels trying to get to their classes at the same time. To do this big task was going to cost about $3.1 million. Gretchen Pargeon says " I think it will be really nice that the office will be at the main entrance so staff can see who is coming and going." When asking freshman Kyle Hamilton what he was looking forward to about the new addition, he responded, " I am looking forward to being seperated from the junior high and having a new concession stand in the lobby."

A bigger lobby was added on to the front of the gym. Also added was a concession stand for sporting events. The high school students are going to be using brand new locker rooms. Haley Lunde says "I look forward to using the locker rooms because there is more space and it looks really nice." Courtney Stuart says " I am looking forward to using the locker rooms because it is a bigger space and there are hair dryers!"

Everyone is really excited to see the new edition finally be completed after students, staff, and the community have been waiting in suspense for 15 months and are all anxiously waiting to see this new face of North Tama.
