American Legion Auxiliary Unit #142 held meeting

Amercian Legion Auxiliary Unit #142 met Tuesday, Sept. 21 at the Memorial Building at 6 p.m. for a membership dinner, 22 members attended. Hostesses were Karen Podhajsky, Kathy Manfull, Vi Berger & Verona Staker.

The meeting started at 7:30 p.m. Bills were presented and approved. Correpsondences were read. Eight officers answered roll call.

Janice Smith is helping with Iowa's Bravest. Last year they sent about 275 Holiday Gift boxes and hopefully about 500 this year. They need help with postage. Our unit is spending $50 to help out.

The Legion is also helping with money. Saturday, Nov. 6 there will be a soup and sandwich supper from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Memorial Building. Donations will be accepted, if any questions call Janice Smith at 319-939-8325 - 713 Second St., Traer.

Also soldiers can be adopted for $50. The Auxiliary is adopting one.

The Tama County Joint Meeting was at Clutier on Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.

Audrey Lenaburg will be moving to her daughter's in Arizona. She has been a member for 67 years. She will be missed.

Next meeting is Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Memorial Building. Mary Beecher and Joan Schafer will be hostesses. Boy and Girl Scouts will be our entertainment. Please come and join us as their program is very interesting.
