Silly Bands

October 6, 2010

By Emily Pargeon

Silly bands have become very popular in our school the past couple months. Silly bands are rubber bands that people wear that are in shapes of different objects. Such as, cartoons, castles, crowns, sports, vehicles, pirates, and many other objects.

Katie Townsend said, "I think silly bands are fun to have, even though they hurt when you get snapped by them." Most people like silly bands because they are fun to trade and just to wear around. I asked Kaleigh Keahna if they are distracting during school. Kaleigh said, "Yes very much so. They are distracting because they are colorful, and when you are bored in class they are fun to play with." From a teachers perspective, I asked Mr. Darrow if he felt silly bands were distracting to his students during class. Mr. Darrow replied, "no, I have never seen students using silly bands in a manner that is distracting to the classroom environment. I think students know when to and when not to use them during school."

Silly bands are the latest fad to hit the halls of North Tama. Do you have your silly bands?
