Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, presented agreements between the Iowa Department of Transportation and the Tama County Engineers Office for signs along the Scenic Byways in Tama County. Brehm told supervisors the Department of Transportation would furnish Scenic Byway signs and the posts if the Tama County Road Department would install them. These signs will go on Highways E66 and E49. Brehm also reports the work on Highway D65 in the north part of the county is moving as scheduled. Brehm says Manatts are pouring cement on the shoulders of Highway 30 at the present time. When this is completed they will move to D65 and pour cement there.
Brehm says the road department will be working northwest of Vining on a couple of places that are snow traps.
Lori Johnson with Early Childhood Iowa, formerly the Empowerment Board, requested Darla Thiessen be appointed to the ECI Board. Johnson says they formerly had a member of the Department of Human Services on the Board.
That person has left DHS and a new person will replace her. Johnson says she has e-mailed the DHS but has not received a reply. Therefore she asked that Thiessen be appointed. Thiessen has served as director of Kids Corner and should be well qualified for the position. Chairman Dan Wilkins told supervisors and those present there had been some "Daytime Burglers" at work in Tama County and people should be aware of this.
Claims approved for last week came to $59,631.
