Oct. 2, 1930

About three o'clock this Thursday morning fire destroyed the large barn, auto and machine shed and contents at the D. F. Harrington farm.

The marriage of Miss Dorthea Jebe and Alvin Rundall took place at noon at the Little Brown Church near Nashua Thursday, September 25.

Oct. 3, 1940

Anna Mae Siemens and Marvin Palmer were married Saturday at the Little Brown Church near Nashua.

Monday afternoon Miss Elsie Wieck became the bride of Clarence Fehr of Chicago.

Sept. 28, 1950

A 20-year-old Brazilian farm boy, one of the International Farm Youth exchangees, came to the Harold Higgins farmstead in Geneseo Township where he will live for three weeks.

Miss Lucille Hay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Hay of La Porte City, became the bride of Dale Wiebbecke, son of Mrs. Maye Wiebbecke, Sunday afternoon at the Little Brown Church near Nashua.

Sunday, October 9, at 3 o'clock Nancy Jane Waller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Waller of Dysart, and Richard R. Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Baker of Dysart, were united in marriage at the Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart.

Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Sawyer of Buckingham are parents of a son born Friday, October 7, at Schoitz Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Oct. 8, 1970

Mr. and Mrs. Ewin W. Hoffman of Libertyville, Ill., announce the engagement of their daughter, Lorie Jean, to Ken Charles Leo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Charles Leo of Dysart. A February wedding is planned.

Pamela Kae Palmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Palmer of Dysart, was selected last week as one of the six finalists for Homecoming Queen at Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls.

Oct. 16, 1980

John and Joyce Hill became the parents of a baby girl born Friday, October 10, in Waterloo. She has been named Kelly Courtney.

Twin brothers Andrew and Fred Schmidt were honored by their families with a supper on Wednesday, October 8, at the Community Building for their 88th birthdays.

Oct. 11, 1990

Mr. and Mrs. Lambert Karpisek of Dysart will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a card shower. They were married on October 10, 1940 in Nebraska.

Denise Renee Linthacum and Brian David Fruhwirth, both of West Des Moines, were married Saturday, August 18, in West Des Moines.

Traci Ann Thede and Charles William Trunck, both of Dysart, wish to announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. A November 18, wedding is planned in Reinbeck.

Don and Reta Callahan of Dysart along with Allan and Diane Slade of La Porte City are proud to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of Katie Mae Callahan to Jeffrey Allan Slade on October 28, 2000, in Waterloo.
