The Varsity football boys added another shut out, and another "W" to their record taking it to 7-0. The Redhawks beat Don Bosco last Friday night 42-0.
North Tama was on the board early with a touchdown from Jacob Wrage, just 5 minutes into the game. Then two minutes later, North Tama recovered a fumble and turned it into a second score of the game, when Tyler Cizek caught a pass and ran it into the endzone. Then to end the first quarter Jacob Wrage intercepted a Bosco pass, which, was also turned, into a touchdown when Jacob Wrage hit Lucas Hefty for the endzone for the touchdown. North Tama scored again 5 minutes later with a pass to Mitchell Boerm who scrambled into the endzone. The half ended with Lucas Hefty catching his 2nd pass touchdown of the night with another nice pass from Brendon Boerm.
In the second half the Redhawks put up one more touchdown when Justin Jacobs had a very nice catch over the middle from Boerm. Coach Thoren then let some of the younger guys have a chance to play under the lights and they held their own playing out the rest of the game leaving the score at 42-0. North Tama had 17 first downs and 260 passing yards. Brendon Boerm threw for 14 completions with 216 passing yards and Jacob Wrage threw for 49 yards on 3 completions.
The Redhawks had no turnovers on the night, and forced one fumble and one interception. Cade Isenhower lead the team in tackles with 10 and Brandon Svoboda and Tyler Cizek were right behind him with 7 and 6 tackles. Nolan Hefty was 6 for 6 on PATs, which is the 2nd week in a row he has been perfect on extra point kicks.
