North Tama Cross Country

The North Tama Middle School Cross Country team competed in a couple of meets recently. On Oct. 2 they competed at Pine Lake in Eldora at the South Hardin Invite. The girls team led by Abi Watson took second place in the meet. Watson had a first place finish with a time of 12:09. Jordan Tebeest had a 12th place finish with a time of 13:55. Abigail Schafer had a 15th place finish with a time of 14:17 and Alexis Taylor came in 16th with a time of 14:32 for a total of 44 team points for the second place finish.

On the boys side Kalan Deke had the best finish for the Redhawks with a 42nd place finish in a time of 15.24. JT Daub had a 53rd place finish with a time of 19:43. The boys did not have enough runners to compete as a team.

On Oct. 5 the team competed in the Wolverine Invitational at Fox Ridge Country Club in Dike. The team had perfect running conditions with a temperature of 71 degrees. Abi Watson again led the Redhawks with a first place finish with a time of 6:03. Jordan Tebeest had a 21st place finish with a time of 6;57. Abagail Schafer had a 33rd place of finish with a time of 7:12. Alexis Taylor had a 39th place finish with a time of 7:23. The girls did not place as a team in this meet.

For the boys Kalan Deke had the best finish for the Redhawks with a time of 7:53 and a place of 58 place finish. Kenny Carroll had a 66th place finish in a time of 9:44. JT Daub came in right behind Carroll for a 67th place finish with a time of 9:50. Dan Kupka came in the 68th place position with a time of 10:54.

The boys did not place as a team.

Abi Watson had a second place finish at the Middle School State meet this past Saturday.

Varsity Cross Country

The North Tama High School Cross Country team also competed in several meets recently. On Oct. 2 the were in Eldora for the South Hardin Invite ran at Pine Lake State Park. It was tough running conditions with a 50 degree start and windy. The girls did not place as a team but individually they placed: 62nd place, Kailey Kladivo with a time of 7:52; 66st place, BrandiAnne Daub with a time of 19:42; 73rd place, Brittany Young with a time of 21:29; 76th place, Nicole Schlichting with a time of 22:58.

David Robinson led the boys team with a 63rd place finish in a time of 21:49. Robert Young had a 79th place finish with a time of 25:59. The boys did not place as a team.

On Oct. 5 the boys were at Fox Ridge Country Club, Dike for the Wolverine Invitational. David Robinson again led the Redhawks with a 19th place finish in a time of 17:35 and Robert Young had a 107th place finish in a time of 24:54.

Kailey Kladivo took the best finish for the girls at the Wolverine Invitational with a 85th place finish in a time of 19:17. BrandiAnne Daub had a 93rd place finish in a time of 19:55. Brittany Young had a 100th place finish in a time of 22:37 and Nicole Schlichting had a 101 place finish in a time of 23:34. Neither the boys or girls placed as a team.

On Oct. 12 the Redhawks again had wonderful weather to compete in the Union Invite at the La Porte City Country Club. In the girls 4K race Kailey Kladivo had the best finish for the Redhawks with a 78th place with a time of 19:49. BrandiAnne Daub came in next for a 85th place in a time of 20:25. Brittany Young was next to cross the finish line in 90th place in a time of 22:32 and Nicole Schlichting came in 91st place in a time of 24:33.

In the boys 5K race David Robinson had a 15th place finish with a time of 17:42 and Robert Young came in with a 94th place finish with a time of 25:04. Neither the boys or girls placed as a team.

In the BGM Individual Cross Country meet on Thursday, Oct. 14 the Redhawks had their best finishes this season. David Robinson had a first place finish with a time of 17:44.78 Robert Young came in 12th place in a time of 24:43.38 and Cody Finical had a 14th place finish in a time of 24:57.12. On the girls side Kailey Kladivo had a 7th place finish in a time of 19:33.23, BrandiAnne Daub was right behind with an 8th place finish in a time of 19:50.04. Brittany Young came in 11th place with a time of 21:18.49 and Nicole Schlichting had the 12th place finish in a time of 23:28.80. As this was an individual meet there was no team scores.

The District Cross Country meet is on Thursday, Oct. 21.

The State Cross Country meet is Saturday, Oct. 30 in Fort Dodge.
