North Tama closed out their last regular season game with a win over Central Elkader and they also won their 3rd straight district championship. They also secured home field advantage for the start of their 2010 playoff journey.
The Redhawks were on the scoreboard first with a touchdown from Cade Isenhower who punched the ball across the end line with a one yard run. The first quarter ended with the Redhawks on top 7 to 0. During the second quarter North Tama put the heat on the warriors by scoring two more times and also got an interception by Nick Whannel. The 1st touchdown in the second quarter came as a pass play from Brendon Boerm to Lucas Hefty. The 2nd touchdown was by Brendon Boerm with a run into the end zone.
The third quarter brought another touchdown from Brendon Boerm who had 15 carries for 96 yards. North Tama forced Elkader to fumble late in the 3rd quarter and Brandon Svoboda jumped on the ball for a Redhawk recovery. The fourth quarter brought the last touchdown for the Redhawks with a run from Cade Isenhower.
The Redhawks had 24 1st downs 174 rushing yards and 189 passing yards. Brendon Boerm had 15 completions for 189 yards and two touchdowns. Lucas Hefty had 8 receptions for 107 yards. On defense Cade Isenhower had 16 tackles with Nick Whannel not far behind with 13 and Tyler Zook with 10. Nolan Hefty was 5 for 5 kicking for the night.
The boys started their 1st round of playoffs last night playing North Butler at home. Check in next week to see the results. If all went well last night the boys will play again at home on Monday night.
