North Tama added another victory to their record to advance in this years football playoffs. The boys had a good game last Wednesday night against the North Butler Bearcats. Kick off was at 7pm with a nasty wind that cut across the field making an obstacle for the team to play through.

The first quarter the boys had a wake up call when just a few minutes into the game the Bearcats ran in a touchdown putting them on the board 1st. North Tama then responded with a touchdown from Cade Isenhower tying the game 7 to 7 at the end of the 1st quarter.

North Tama started with the ball in the second quarter allowing Brendon Boerm to run 12 yards into the endzone for the second touchdown of the night, just 2 minutes into the quarter. Then late in the quarter the Redhawks scored two more times in just a couple of seconds. One of the touchdowns was a pass from Brendon Boerm to Lucas Hefty in the endzone with just 8 seconds left on the board. Then the Bearcats got the ball back and Brendon Boerm had an interception and ran the ball back 65 yards for a Redhawk touchdown with 0 seconds left in the half.

The third quarter came with North Tama scoring again early. Brendon Boerm threw a pass to Jacob Wrage who then ran it into the endzone for the touchdown. On North Butler's next possession the Redhawks forced a punt where number 23, Mitchell Boerm got a hand on the ball to block the punt taking over the ball. A play later, North Tama fumbled the ball only to recover it in the endzone for a touchdown by Mitchell Boerm. The third quarter ended with North Tama up 41 to 7.

The fourth quarter North Tama had a fumble recovery only to lose it again allowing North Butler to score one last time. The final score was 41 to 14, giving the Redhawks another win and allowing them to advance to the next round in the playoffs.

North Tama had 12 1st downs, 122 rushing yards, and 136 passing yards. Brendon Boerm had 10 completions for 109 passing yards and threw for 2 touchdowns. Jacob Wrage had 2 completions for 19 yards. Lucas Hefty had 4 catches for 43 yards while Tyler Cizek also had 4 catches with 38 yards. On defense Nick Whannel had 13 tackles while Cade Isenhower had 12. Brendon Boerm had one interception for 65 yards and the touchdown.

North Tama played in the 2nd round this past Monday; check in to see the results next week. If the Redhawks won on Monday night they will play again tomorrow night at 8:45pm in the UNI Dome against Mason City Newman.
