The North Tama dance team (NTDT) is very excited to be back and dancing again this year. Coached by Casey Rickels, a UNI grad student and former UNI dance team member, and sponsored by North Tama staff members, Kayla Carlson and Becky Adams, the team is off to great start in rebuilding the dance program at North Tama.
The NTDT has worked very hard to get to where they are this year. They have already learned 4 dances and plan to learn a couple more. The dance team members get together to practice every Sunday for three hours, and two mornings a week for 30-45 minutes. They have gotten a lot accomplished considering the amount of time they have to work.
The dance team participated in a dance showcase at Kirkwood Community College on Saturday, November 13th where they received a division 1 rating for their pom dance to a Lady Gaga mix, and their hip hop dance to a mix of old school songs. They also preformed in the Winding Stairs Festival parade, two pep rallies, and the varsity basketball game on Friday, December 3. If you have not gotten the opportunity to see the NTDT dance, do not worry; there are many performances to come. They will be performing at every home, varsity basketball game during the boys halftime.
