The GRNT and Grundy Center Wrestling Team competed in the District Competition recently which ended up with Tyler Lashbrook going onto state.
At 119 pounds, Alex Bovy finished in 4th place with one bye, one win and one loss. Bovy pinned his opponent, Alex Hunter of Marion in 5:59 but lost to Cedar Rapids Jefferson's PJ Rashed with a score of 4-10. Omar Martinez wrestled Brendan Alexander of Cedar Falls in the 125 pound bracket, loosing 1-8, Martinez placed 5th. At 130 pounds was Clayton Blocker wrestling for North Tama and brought home 3rd place. Blocker had one bye and also wrestled Seth Ebling of Waverly Shellrock, loosing that match, beating JP Mercado of Cedar Rapids Washington with a 5-3 score and loosing to Jacob Showalter of Waterloo West with a score of 4-10.
Bryce Moats and Tyler Nelson lost both of their matches by falls, Moats wrestled Ethan Martin from Waterloo West and Trevor Luebe from Cedar Rapids Washington. Nelson lost to Kalsar Herz of Cedar Rapids Washington and Michael Smith of Cedar Rapids Jefferson. Nelson placed 6th.
At 145 pounds is 1st place, Lashbrook who pinned both of his opponents, Hunter Barnes of Marion and Blake Seehusen of Waverly Shellrock. At 171 pounds was Andrew Winburn who placed 4th. Winburn lost to Ian Brauer of Waterloo West and David Langley of Cedar Falls. Winburn beat Kaleb Tuetlken of Marion with a fall in a time of 1:45. 4th place finisher from North Tama was Tyler Zook who won his match against Jordan Laird of Waterloo West with a pin in 1:18. Zook lost to Riley Welsh of Cedar Rapids Jefferson with a close score of 5-6 and also to Collin Heidemann of Waverly Shellrock, 6-8.
Eliot Randel wrestled at 285 pounds losing against Tyler Burrell of Cedar Rapids Washington with a score of 2-3 and Nick Terpstra of Cedar Falls, 1-3. Randel did walk away with a fall, beating Jack Rooff of Waterloo West in a time of 5:22.
