North Tama runs past Wolverines

TRAER - The North Tama boys' basketball team turned up the defense and had a pair of big scorers in its 63-24 victory over GMG on Thursday night in the Class 1A District 11 quarterfinals.

Lucas Hefty had 19 points and Mitchell Boerm 15 as the No. 10 Redhawks (18-4) advance to face HLV on Tuesday in the semifinals at home.

HLV (13-8) defeated Meskwaki, 78-44, in its quarterfinal game.

Hefty and Boerm both had seven rebounds on the night while Hefty added six steals to his stat sheet.

Cade Isenhower had nine points and five assists, and Tyler Cizek added eight points.

Kyle Warren was the top-scorer for GMG (3-18) with seven points. Blake Warren and Chris Read had four apiece for the Wolverines.
