Fred Louis Hushak, 95, of Traer formerly of Clutier died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011 at Sunrise Hill Care Center, Traer. A visitation was held on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clutier. A memorial service was held Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clutier at 10:30 a.m. Internment was at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery, rural Clutier.
Fred Louis Hushak was born June 21, 1915 on the family farm near Clutier, son of Fred and Emma Wacha Hushak. Fred was educated in country schools and later Clutier High School where he graduated in 1932. He then began farming with his father and on August 25, 1938 he was united in marriage to Adaline Caslavka at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clutier. Fred and Adaline made their home all their married life farming west and northwest of Clutier. After retirement they remained on the farm until 1985 when they moved to town. Fred remained active and worked at Farm Service for several years. In October of 2007 they moved to Traer to the Sunrise Hill Care Center Apartments. Fred's death came at the Sunrise Hill on early Thursday morning, February 24, 2011 at the age of 95 years. In free time he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, dancing, card playing and telling jokes and telling stories to family and friends. He was also a member and officer of various groups including the KD Lodge, Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Tama County Board of Education. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clutier. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Beverly Yuska on January 29, 2011 and one sister Pearl Schoenfelder. He is survived by his wife of 72 years Adaline of Traer, one son Leroy (Virginia) Hushak of Worthington, Ohio, two daughters, Kathy Moscinski of Rockford, Ill. and Denyse Henery of Richardson, Texas, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, a son-in-law Ronald Yuska of Tama, one brother Victor (Beatrice) Hushak of Dysart, two sisters, June Casey of Tama, and Annabelle (Franklin) Grimm of Rockaway Beach, Mo. A memorial fund is being established
