Elsie M. Tams, 100, died Thursday, March 10 at Sunrise Hill Care Center of natural causes. A visitation was held on Sunday, March 13 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Overton Funeral Home in Dysart. A memorial service was held Monday, March 14, at 10:30 AM at Overton Funeral Home in Dysart. Elsie M. Tams was born July 2, 1910 in rural Traer, daughter of Mike and Anna (Caloud) Mochal. Elsie received her education in Traer and graduated from Traer High School in 1929. While in high school she received her teaching certificate and taught country school at Stormy Point # 5 south of Traer. On December 24, 1935 she was united in marriage to William Tams and they lived on a farm near Clutier later moving to a farm near Traer. They then moved to make their home in Dysart where Elsie continued to live following William's death on April 21, 1988. In 2006 she became a resident of the Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer where her death came on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the age of 100 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William, 4 brothers, William, Abe, Fred and Edward, and three sisters, Stella Mochal, Evelyn Monroe and Ethel Crist. She is survived by a son Terry Tams of Dysart and a daughter Kay (Rob) Mairs of Ashton, Ill., three grandchildren, Carrie Mairs of Las Vegas, Nev., Jeff Mairs of Franklin Grove, Ill. and Dave Mairs of Ashton, Ill., seven great grandchildren, Ashley Mairs of Chicago, Ill., Tyler, Ryan and Emily Mairs of Franklin Grove, Ill. and Kim, Troy and Adam Mairs of Ashton, Ill.. Memorials may be directed to the family in lieu of flowers.
