William "Bill" Mason, 78, of the Grandview Heights in Marshalltown, longtime State Center/Clemons area farmer, died early Sunday morning at the Grandview Heights where he has resided in their loving care for the past four years.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. He was laid to rest in the Hillside Cemetery at State Center. Visitation was held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234.
Born on March 7, 1933, at Traer, he was the son of Gordon Burke and Bertha Adelle (Siegfried) Mason. He graduated from the Toledo High School. After graduation, he served our country honorably in the United States Army stationed in Germany.On October 15 1960, he was united in marriage to Barbara Heath in Clemons. They made their home at Garwin, Clemons, and later State Center where he farmed.
Left to cherish his memory are his granddaughter Kloey Fairall, sister Doris (Lee) Connell in Colo., adopted family Don and Barb Peters of rural State Center and all of their family, and nieces and nephews as well as friends.
In death Bill rejoined his beloved Barbara, son Gordie parents and siblings.
