Vlasta A. Brestan, 99, of Traer, died Monday, March 28 at Sunrise Hill Care Center of natural causes. A vistation is being held on Thursday, March 31 at 1 p.m. A memorial service is being held on Thursday, March 31 at 2 p.m. at Overton Funeral Home, Traer. Internment will be at Buckingham Cemetery, Traer.

Vlasta A Brestan was born November 30, 1911 in Clarkson, Nebraska the daughter of Edward and Frances Brestan Kutin. At the age of four after the death of her mother she went to live in Prague, Oklahoma with her grandparents Vaclav and Marie Brestan. Vlasta took her name of her grandparents who raised her and later cared for them until their death. She then made her uncle Frank Brestan until his death and then worked for area families doing housework. In 1988 she moved to make her home in Hudson to be closer to family. Recently she had made Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer her home where her death came on Monday, March 28, 2011 at the age of 99 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparent's three sisters, Agnes Smith, Margaret Yukl and Cecelia Owens and two brothers Joseph and Stanley Kutin. She is survived by nieces and nephews.
