Margaret Maxine Wilson, 91, of Denver, Colo., died on April 26, 2011, after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held at Dysart United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 11, at 2:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at the Dysart Cemetery and a reception at the church immediately after.
Margaret was born on the James S. Wilson farm northeast of Dysart on Jan. 26, 1920. Following graduation from Dysart High School in 1937, she attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls and Cedar Rapids Business College. For several years, she was employed at Iowa Mutual Insurance Company in Cedar Rapids.
Upon moving to Dallas and then settling in Denver, Margaret began her broadcast career at KOA Radio (NBC) as Secretary to the General Manager. She then joined KLZ Radio & TV (now KMGH-TV), a CBS affiliate, where she was Executive Assistant to the Vice Presidents and General Manager until her retirement in 1985.
Margaret served as past president of the Denver Chapter of Executive Women International and was a member of the Metro Denver Dinosaurs, a large organization for media professionals. She enjoyed world travel and socializing with her family and friends.
Peg is survived by 12 nieces and nephews and one sister, Betty Hyer, of Denver. She was preceded in death by her parents, James S. and Mary Wilson, brothers James, Robert, Edward and Delmar, and sister Isabel Harp. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, American Red Cross or the Dysart United Methodist Church.
