Gladys M. Teasdale, 77, of Dysart, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Sunnycrest Nursing Center following an extended illness. A memorial service was held Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 11 a.m. a the United Methodist Church in Dysart. Burial will be at a later date.
Gladys Marian Teasdale was born March 21, 1934 in Sioux City, the daughter of Dewey Marcus and Gwendolyn Elskamp Powell. She received her education in Sioux City where she graduated from Central High School. On March 26, 1953 she was united in marriage to Calvin Teasdale in Denver, Colo. After Calvin completed his seminary school and was ordained in the United Methodist Church. Calvin and Gladys served church in the communities of Alta, Sheldon, Dysart, Forest City, Hudson, Ruthven and retired in Fort Dodge in 1994. After their retirement they continued to make their home in Fort Dodge where Calvin's death came on July 18, 2009. In April of 2010 Gladys moved to be closer to family and was a resident of the Sunnycrest Care Center in Dysart. Her death came at the care center early Tuesday morning June 14, 2011 at the age of 77 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Darlene and a brother Dewey Jr. She is survived by one son Thomas (Corey) Teasdale of Ft. Myers, Fla.; three daughters, Roxi (John) Gavan of Drumheller, Alberta, Canada, Rebecca (Getty Tyner) of Toronto, Kan., and Katherine (Gean) Meyer of La Porte City, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one sister Maryellen Poulin of Maine.
