Donald Dean McConnell, 73, of Unionville, formally of Traer died, July 13, 2011 at his residence of natural causes. A visitation was held on Friday, July 15 at Overton Funeral Home, Traer, from 7-9 p.m. A memorial service was held Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Overton Funeral Home, Traer at 10 a.m. Military Rites were performed by Kubik-Finch Post #142 of Traer. Internment was at Buckingham Cemetery.
Donald Dean McConnell, 73, of rural Unionville, was born August 1, 1937 in Traer; the son of Dean and Maurine (Dobson) McConnell. He graduated from North Tama High School with the class of 1955. Donald served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He was employed at John Deere Waterloo Works for 40 years before retiring in 1997. Donald was most proud of his three sons and enjoyed spending time with their families, going to Canada fishing and relaxing at home watching sports on T.V.
Donald passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at his home in southern Iowa. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Ronald Jacobs formerly of Traer. Donald is survived by his three sons, Dony Jr. of Waterloo, Ron (Teresa) of San Antonio, Texas, Kevin (Brooke) of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Mariah, Alexia and Adrian of San Antonio and Lauren, Leah and Kaden of Waterloo; one sister, Delores Jacobs of Traer.
