Alma Louise Dinsdale, 94 of New Hampton and formerly of Traer died Friday, September 30, 2011 at New Hampton Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes. Services were held on Monday, October 3, 2011 at Ripley United Curch of Christ in Traer.
Alma Louise Dinsdale was born November 29, 1916 in Morganfield, Ky., daughter of Chester and Nell Markham Kanipe. She started school in Morganfield and at the age of 10 moved with her family to Traer where she graduated from Traer High School. On January 16, 1935 she was united in marriage to Thomas LeRoy Dinsdale and they made their home on one of the Dinsdale family farms until 1940 when they moved to the home farm. After Leroy's death on September 4, 1993 she remained on the farm and later moved to the Kensington Place Assisted Living in New Hampton before transitioning into the New Hampton Nursing and Rehab Center. Louise's death came on Friday, September 30, 2011 at the age of 94 years. She had a passion for music and was active in the Ripley United Church of Christ Choir and sang for many area families at the funeral services for their loved ones. She also was active in the church bible study and the Buckingham, Homemakers Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son John in 1937, one grandson Chet Thomas Dinsdale and three sisters, Marjorie Manfull, Ann Hanson and Maxine Scurries. She is survived by four children, Chester Allen (Carole) Dinsdale of Quasqueton, Richard Lee (Carolyn) Dinsdale of Traer, Judith Ann (Don) Benz of Lawler and William LeRoy (Donna) Dinsdale of Reinbeck and several grand, great grand and great great grandchildren.
