The Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary held a sewing day on Tuesday, October 4 at the post home. Those sewing were Maxine Kopriva, Marilyn Svoboda, Evelyn Caloud, Helen Valentine, Vera Sevcik, Pauline Sienknecht, Mary Seda, Helen Sevcik, Eileen Hora and Veronica Pavlicek. The day began at 9 a.m. tearing and sewing sheets into carpet rags for IVH in Marshalltown. A delicious potluck at noon was enjoyed by all.
Linda Dvorak joined the group for the monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. August minutes were read and approved as read. No minutes from September as there was no meeting. Linda gave the unit's financial report and obligations to the Department, 3rd District were paid. Bills presented were for the IVH picnic, new clocks, cleaning supplies and grocery raffle. Marilyn Svoboda made a motion for the bills to be paid and the motion was seconded by Helen Valentine, motion carried.
The Unit will be having a bake sale on Sunday, October 23 from 8 a.m. to noon. This is the same time that the legion is having a pancake breakfast at the post home in Clutier. October 25 will be the past president party at Elberon with the time to be announced. November 18 will be the Joint County Legion and Auxiliary meeting at the Meskwaki Tribal Conference Center at 6:30 p.m.
On November 1, the unit will be having a sewing day at the post home. It will begin at 9 a.m. with a potluck at noon and a meeting at 1:30 p.m.
