The North Tama Redhawks defeated the North Butler Bear Cats Wednesday night on the home field 24 to 7.

North Tama pounded it down on the field Wednesday. Leading the Redhawks with 116 rushing yards was Senior Nick Whannel. Juniors Dalton Hulme had 59 rushing yards, Brent Billerbeck had 18 rushing yards, and Jacob Watson had 9 rushing yards.

The Redhawk defense had a bend-but-not-break defense: While North Butler Junior Robert Ruttler rushed for 127 yards, the Bear Cats did not score until late in the fourth quarter.

"They played outstanding! North Butler's offense got into North Tama's red zone five times and only scored seven points. Our defense played very well. North Butler's team really came at us and we did a great job of tackling and making key plays all night," said Redhawk Head Coach Brent Thoren.

North Tama travels to Newman Catholic on Monday the 31st.
