December 5 meeting
At the Tama County Board of Supervisors meeting on Monday morning two Public Hearings were held for rezoning property in Howard and Spring Creek Townships.
The hearings were zoning change on a parcel of land from agriculture to commercial. The request for the change was made by Mid Iowa Cooperative.
Mid Iowa Cooperative intends to construct new facilities at the site address of 1934 Highway E-29, Toledo. Mid Iowa Cooperative has purchased a 40 acre parcel from Bennek Holdings.
Mid Iowa will be in the process of moving from the City of Garwin to the new location. The property in the City of Garwin was highly damaged from the wind storm in July.
The Tama County Zoning Commission held a board meeting on November 18, 2011 and voted for the change in zoning at that time. The Zoning Commission stated it would still be an agricultural use and would keep traffic and danger from anhydrous tanks away from large groups of people.
Lyle Brehm, County Engineer, reported to the Supervisors that two trucks had been sent out over the weekend in the northwest part of the county due to the weather.
Brehm also said due to a retirement of an employee he intends to hire a new person to fill in on the Bridge Crew. Applications can be picked up at the County Auditors office.
Brehm says they have been working on some snow traps and have been preparing county equipment for winter operations.
In other business a Public Hearing for a road vacation in Spring Creek Township, sections 27 and 22 has been set for 9:30 a.m. on January 9, 2012 in the Supervisors room.
