The regular meeting of the Tama County Young Guns 4H Club was held March 17th at Wolf Creek Taxidermy.
Dakota Vodochodsky called the meeting to order at 3:20 p.m. There were seven members and four parents present. Jensen Vodochodsky led the Pledge of Allegiance and connor Casto led the 4H pledge.
Club leader Joshua Casto read the minutes of the past meeting. Connor made a motion and Liesel seconded the motion, with the minutes being approved as read.
The Treasurer's report was given and received as read. The balance as of March 17th was $429.65. Brandon Miller motioned to approve the report and Vodochodsky seconded the motion.
Old business discussed was attending FSQA is members planned on showing animals at the fair. Miller motioned to end old business and Connor Casto seconded the motion.
New business discussed was a vote to volunteer at the Friends of NRA Banquet in 2013. The Friends of NRA will be giving the group a grant next year.
May 4th through 6th there will be a field trip to the Ohio Gun Collectors Association. Admission is free for the club and hotel rooms will be provided.
The group will also be starting NRA marksmanship qualifications. Each member will be awarded a certificate for their achievements.
The group will be hosting its first Invitational Silhouette Shoot on Saturday, June 2, with more information to come at a later date.
The next practice for rifle, shotgun and archery will be Aptil 7 at 9 a.m. at the Wolf Creek Range.
Following the discussion of all new business, Connor Casto motioned to end new business and Joe seconded the motion.
Teresa Vodochodsky handed out a shotgun test for each member to complete, with those who score an 85% or better being able to participate in a skeet shoot in Washburn on April 14th.
Dakota Vodochodsky will be hosting the next meeting and doing a presentation on cleaning and maintaining a gun. The next regular meeting will be April 21 at 2 p.m. The first hour will be for anyone that would like to get in extra rifle practice.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Brandon Miller and Liesel seconded the motion, which was passed unanimously.
After the meeting, Greg Stewart gave a talk on taxidermy and show the club the different stages he was on in his projects. The group also took a tour of the range, which will be the 4H club's home range.
