The Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary held their monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 3 at the Post Home at 7 p.m. President Veronica conducted the meeting in the regular forum.
Pauline Sienknecht and Eileen Hora advanced the colors. There were nine members present and roll call was answered by four officers. March minutes were read and approved. Treasuer Linda gave the financial report.
Veronica reported on the Clutier Alumni Banquet the unit served on March 31. She thanked everyone who worked or helped by donations for the groceries which made the banquet a successful project. Motion to pay the bills was made by Pauline Sienknecht and seconded by Eileen Hora, and the motion carried.
Veronia also reported on the Foreign Food Fair at IVH that she, Evelyn and Norbert Caloud assisted at. Evelyn and Norbert also assisted at IVH Bingo.
Government Day is April 11 and the unit is to provide three dozen cookies.
Unit dues for 2012-13 were discussed at length. After weighing all options to raise dues or leave them as is, Vera Sevcik made a motion to leave dues as is, seconded by Jean Miller and the motion carried.
RAGBRAI was discussed as the event will be passing through the four corners on the east edge of Clutier. At this time, the auxiliary will not be doing anything for RAGBRAI.
Happy Birthday was sung to Linda Dvorak. A door prize was won by Helen Valentine, with an additional prize of a head of lettuce being won by Jean Miller and a jar of applesauce by Pauline Sienknecht. Hostess Veronica served chicken salad sandwiches and carrot cake.
The next meeting will be May 1 at 5:30 p.m. to clean and update the trellises and crosses which will be used to decorate veterans' graves on Memorial Day. Please bring pliers when coming to help. If you will be coming to the regular meeting at 7 p.m., please come at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy lunch before the meeting.
