A Fiery Trial, the Civil War exhibit bus that rolled into Traer last week, hosted students from North Tama High and Junior High School on Friday. The event was part of a four-day weekend exhibit that included presentations at the library, Traer Historical Museum and the Traer Theatre. Students had the opportunity to see artillery demonstrations, flag presentations, a slideshow on the Battle of Gettysburg and local folks giving speeches as important historical figures. Above, a group of sixth and seventh graders watch intently as Bruce Stiles demonstrates how artillery shaped the course of the Civil War. Right, Charles Lott gives a presentation to eighth graders on the often-recognized battle flags that both sides used during the war.
