They were married on August 11, 1984. On June 1, 1986, Deborah and Richard celebrated the arrival of their son, Christopher Darrah Arp. Deborah taught music for the Dysart-Geneseo School District until she and Richard started their family. She returned to teaching for the South Tama County Community School District in 1996, where she taught elementary music, junior high choir, fifth grade start-up band and one year of high school music appreciation. Deborah continued to work at South Tama for many years, finally retiring in 2012. Throughout her years of teaching, she influenced the lives of thousands of students and inspired them with her passion and talent for music. She shared this talent with the members of the Dysart Zion Lutheran Church most Sundays where she sang in the choir and as soloist. Deborah also shared her voice at weddings, funerals and other social events. Her love for music inspired musical passion, appreciation and excellence in all. Quilting was Deborah's favorite hobby, creating many beautiful works of art. In addition to being a talented musician, teacher and quilter, she was also a great mother, wife, daughter and sister.
