The North Tama Redhawks rode a three-game winning streak to a plus-.500 record this week on the strength of their seniors, and some youngsters.
The boys beat North Mahaska 10-5 on Saturday in tournament action before stealing a close one against Don Bosco Catholic on Monday by a score of 6-5. They followed that with an 11-0 beatdown of CAL-Latimer last Wednesday.
Senior first baseman and pitcher Brian Seda had four RBI in the three games, and also drew four walks to get on base. Seda is now batting .403 with a home run and 17 RBI on the season.
He also struck out 10 in five innings of work in the CAL-Latimer game. Clayton Blocker also stole three bases in that contest.
One of the surprising young players who contributed to the win over Bosco was incoming freshman Huston Danker, who had two RBI and drew a walk playing out of the designated hitter slot.
The Redhawks have their final regular season home game on Monday, July 2, when they take on Jesup in a varsity doubleheader at 5:30 p.m.
